Songs to Beat the Band

Songs to Beat the Band: Sunday March 24, 2:00PM
The Mighty Palomar/Pacific Coast Concert Band presents a celebration of our American Musical Heritage at 2 pm Sunday, March 24 at Palomar College. From songs of the American Revolution to Sousa's marches, American Big Band and Broadway, this concert comprises uniquely American styles by American Composers. We'll feature American Folk Songs like "My Days Have Been So Wondrous Free," written in 1759 and William Billings' "Chester" (as popular as "Yankee Doodle" in 1770)  and be serving popcorn to get you in the mood for "Circus Band" by Charles Ives.  A medley of big band music will set you swingin' and we'll take a quick trip down New York's Broadway.
